Only nine days earlier, on November 13th, Sillito wrote, "However, I need to keep moving forward.." His demanding tone is a fine example of the dictator styled negotiations (bullying) I witnessed between EnCana reps and my Mom & Dad on far too many occasions.
Unbelievably!! on the morning of November 22nd, Sr. Survey Crew Chief, Mr. Jason Cote arrives unannounced at the door with the expectation that he would get Dad's permission to begin the pipeline surveys. I place no fault on Mr. Cote because he was most likely just following orders issued to him. I suspect there was a meeting of the minds and someone (Sillito ??) thought maybe, just maybe, they could wear down the old guy (Dad) by showing up at the door! By itself this issue may seem petty but when added to nearly 20 years of kowtowing to this tenant! the straws on the camel's back were starting to pile up.
Dad told Mr. Cote, "No thanks, I'm waiting for EnCana to fulfill their commitments before we move onto surveying for anymore wells or pipelines on my land."
Mr. Cote got back into his truck and left. If only it was that simple to make the rest of Encana's intrusions go away.
