Well 1 (W1) was drilled in 1994 and this lease site had been a constant source of weed and erosion problems all those years. Mostly because EnCana had forgot they had this lease.
In 2006 we had enough of fixing EnCana's messes and doing their lease maintenance work. Dad had always been the one who took the time and expense to make sure our land was better looked after than the photos below attest to. Encana's standard of care for their leased sites and the condition of their leased access roads fell considerably short on how we cared for our land.
When we realized EnCana was just going to leave these weed patches for us to clean up, as they had always done in the past, we decided this was their mess and they could take the time and expense to remedy these inexcusable site conditions. I penned a quick email to Mr. Sillito with a couple photos attached and asked that he get someone to clean up their weedy mess ASAP. It took four days before anyone showed up to address this problem.
