Encana's landman ROLLOCK wrote, "Water Well – Want well tested – they feel there has been a drop in water produced from their well as a result of drilling activity in the area. Would like well tested for flow rate and chemistry. I advised EnCana has no issue with testing well, as it provides base line data that protects everybody concerned. Said I didn’t know which company ECA uses."
Excerpt from my April 2006 response emailed back to Rollock and Sillito:
This is an incredible example of how failing to remember a simple, but considerably important detail can dramatically change the context of a story. What Mr. Rollock is referring to, is a little story we shared with him (on Feb. 17, 2006) about how an oil well was drilled to the south of our yard (Husky's Abandoned well drilled in 1957), and shortly after it was drilled, the newly drilled water well in our yard, that produced extremely well, suddenly went dry. They (my grandparents) had to drill a new water well deeper to get at a small amount of water to supply the farm.
The important detail he completely missed reporting, is the fact that we told him that this event happened 50 years ago. At no time did any one of us say that we feel there has been a drop in water produced from our water well in recent years.
